Step back in time to a region filled with traditional villages, open heathlands and impressive woodlands. With miles and miles of footpaths and cycle routes amongst the New Forest, where better to rest your weary limbs than in one of the many pubs in the region, with home-cooked food and real ale on offer. With picnic spots aplenty, families can enjoy many a day out exploring the region, whether it be fishing for minnows in the streams, admiring the forest ponies, having a leisurely bike ride or visiting one of the nearby attractions, which include the Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, Exbury Garden and Steam Railway, and the New Forest Wildlife Park.
The annual New Forest Show takes place in the village of Brockenhurst, a large village set amongst some truly stunning forest land. Watch out for the ponies, as they can often be seen roaming freely down the main street.
Burley is a village with a history of smuggling and witchcraft, with a good number of shops and tearooms too, making it an ideal place to base your holiday. With a cycle hire shop and a golf course in the village, it is a good place for those wishing to stay active on holiday.
The larger village of Lymington is full of independent boutiques and shops. With sailing opportunities too, the Town Quay and marinas are also well worth a visit.
